Canadian Goldenrod Solidago canadensis Family: Asteraceae Flowering late summer. Rhizomatous perennial. Introduced Tall yellow panicles of golden-yellow flowers followed by seedheads with abundant seeds. The long narrow leaves are pointed and slightly serrate at the apex. Erect stems, the upper stems slightly hairy. Can form large clumps as it spreads both vegetatively and by seed. Height to 1.5m A garden escape or discard with scattered records in Ireland but widely naturalised from garden stock in Britain and Europe Similar: Goldenrod, Solidago virgaurea is a smaller native plant |
