Zigzag Clover Trifolium medium Seamair sceabhach Family: Fabaceae Flowering June-August. Perennial. Native. Stalked heads of bright reddish-purple flowers with hairless calyx tubes. The narrow, oblong leaflets are approx. 3x long as broad, deep-green when mature and only faintly marked. Evenly tapered stipules. Stems are more/less zigzag. Widespread but scattered distribution in Ireland on neutral grassland Similar: Red Clover, Trifolium pratense. Very common. |
