Red Clover Trifolium pratense Seamair dhearg Family: Fabaceae Flowering: June-October. Perennial. Native. Globular heads of red or pink flowers on erect, hairy, solid stems. Usually stalkless above upper leaves. Tri-foliate leaves, leaflets usually 2x long as broad, often with white marking. Stipules broad-triangular with bristle point. More/less erect to sprawling growth. Height: 15-45cm. Widespread, very common in meadows, roadsides and gardens. Hybrids occur with the non-native agricultural variety of Red Clover Trifolium pratense var. sativum |
