Wood Burdock Arctium nemorosum (Arctium minus subsp. nemorosum) Cnádán fáil Family: Asteraceae Flowering July-September. Biennial. Native. Similar to Lesser Burdock, A. minus but very variable with looser spikes of short-stalked, woolly flower-heads. Florets more/less equal sepal-like bracts, more open in fruit. Lower leaf stalks are hollow and furrowed above. Stems sometimes reddish. Identification by Paul Green. Similar habitat requirements to Lesser Burdock, growing on waste ground, meadows, roadsides and in open woodland The most frequent Burdock in some parts of Ireland. |
