Rough Hawk's-beard Crepis biennis Lus cúráin garbh Family: Asteraceae Flowering June - August. Biennial. Probably introduced. Pale yellow flowers in loose clusters, florets not red-striped. Inner bracts dark-hairy on the outside. Curved, beakless achenes. A larger and more erect plant than Beaked Hawk's-beard, the stems less red in colour. Rough-hairy with clasping stem leaves that are not arrow-shaped at base. Height to 1.2m. Widespread in Ireland on roadsides, arable fields, waste ground and grassy areas. Sometimes introduced with grass seed. |
