Perfoliate Pondweed / Clasping-leaf Pondweed Potamogeton perfoliatus Dréimire uisce Family: Potamogetonaceae Flowering May-August. Rhizomatous aquatic perennial. Native. All the stalkless, thin, translucent leaves are submerged, lanceolate or ovoid with the base completely clasping the stem. Stipules are initially present but soon disappear. Identification confirmed by Paul Green Widespread in neutral to mildly acidic ponds and lakes and in slow-flowing rivers and streams throughout most of Ireland. |
