Bugle (garden cultivar) Ajuga reptans 'Atropurpurea' Family: Lamiaceae Flowering April-June. Perennial. Garden escape. A garden cultivar of the native Bugle, Ajuga repens. Deepish-blue flowers on erect flowering stems, the bracts tinged coppery-purplish. The mid to dark green leaves are flushed copper or deep-purplish. Creeping stolons. Prefers moist, slightly shaded ground. Very occasionally recorded as a garden escape, discard or relic of cultivation. |
