American Blue-eyed Grass

Flowering June-September. Perennial. Garden escape.

Blue flowers with 6 petals and yellow centres that self-seed freely. The grass-like leaves are finely pointed and evergreen in mild winters. Height 10-15cm. Self-sown seedlings are hardier than the parent plants and more drought-tolerant.

In gardens grows in well-drained light soil in full sun and can self-seed and become naturalised in rough grassland.
