Flowering June-August. Perennial. Garden escape.

Tall spikes of hooded, tubular white and purplish flowers above clumps of large, glossy and deeply divided leaves. Deep roots, suckering. Spreads by seed and root fragments. Height: flower spikes to 1.7m.

An occasional garden escape or discard.
