Love-in-a-mist Nigella damascena Family: Ranunculaceae Flowering July-September. Annual. Garden escape. Flowers with 5-10 coloured sepals and minute petals at the base of the stamens. Sepals are usually sky-blue but can be pink, white or pale purple. The flowers are surrounded by prominent lacy bracts and are followed by large inflated seed capsules. The leaves are very finely cut Self-seeds freely and is an occasional garden escape or discard on well-drained light soils |
