Common Figwort Scrophularia nodosa Donnlus Family: Scrophulariaceae Flowering: June-September. Perennial. Native. Flowers small, reddish-brown, with green lower lobes. Leaves are oval, pointed and sharp-toothed, the square stems not or slightly winged. Rhizomes with many tuber-like swellings. Height to 100cm. Scrophularia nodosa var. bobartii is a green-flowered form. Widespread in woods, hedgebanks and on waste ground. Similar: Water Figwort, Scrophularia auriculata. Blunt-tipped leaves and stems with wide wings. |
