Red-osier Dogwood Cornus sericea Family: Cornaceae Flowering: May-July. Deciduous shrub. Introduced Similar to Dogwood, Cornus sanguinea but the leaves are broader with more pairs of veins. The flowers have smaller petals and are followed by white berries in the autumn. Suckering growth habit, the stems turning red in the winter Frequently planted in gardens and parks and naturalised throughout Ireland in damp woods, by rivers and on roadsides Similar: Dogwood, Cornus sanguinea has black fruit. |
