White Dead-nettle Lamium album Caochneantóg bhán Family: Lamiaceae Flowering time: May-November. Perennial. Introduced. Dense whorls of 2-lipped white flowers, the upper lip long and hairy. The pointed leaves with coarse teeth are nettle-like but stingless. Can spread widely by means of underground rhizomes. Height 20-60cm. Often found near habitation on fertile waste ground, roadsides, hedgebanks and in open woodland. Mainly restricted to the eastern half of Ireland where it can be locally frequent. |
