Common Toadflax Linaria vulgaris Buaflíon Family: Scrophulariaceae Flowering: July-October. Perennial. Possibly introduced. Tall spikes of spurred yellow flowers with dark yellow or orange markings on the lip and a long spur. The leaves are linear or narrow-elliptical, lower leaves in a whorl, upper leaves alternate. Lower parts of the plant are hairless but the inflorescence is often sticky-hairy. There are many erect branched stems, and it spreads by creeping rhizomes. Height 25-75cm. Occasional, mainly found in south, south-east and north-east Ireland on waste ground, grassland and roadsides. |
