Greater Spearwort Ranunculus lingua Glasair léana mhór Family: Ranunculaceae Flowering time: June-August. Perennial. Native. Large bright-yellow flowers (2 x buttercup size) on un-furrowed stalks. The narrow-lanceolate leaves are slightly toothed and hairless. A tall, stout plant that spreads by underground stolons. Height 60-120cm. Prefers base-rich still or slow water in fens, marshes, canals and reed-beds. Most frequent in central Ireland. Similar: Lesser Spearwort, R. flammula is smaller and more slender |
