Sea Plantain Plantago maritima Slánlus mara Family: Plantaginaceae Flowering time: June-August. Perennial. Native. Erect spikes of flowers with yellow anthers on rounded flower stalks that are longer than the leaves (to 30cm). Capsules with 2 dark-brown seeds. The narrow fleshy leaves grow from a woody base and are linear with 3-5 veins and untoothed (to 20cm). Usually many leaf rosettes are present. Frequent on Irish coasts and coastal salt-marshes.
