Royal Fern Osmunda regalis Raithneach ríúil Family: Osmundaceae Flowering: June-August. Perennial fern. Native. Young stalks are covered with golden-brown hairs which soon fall off. The deciduous pale green leaves are erect and 2-pinnate, 60-100cm long. Rich-brown spore cases on central leaves. Short, stout erect stems. Height to 2m Boggy, marshy woods and fens.
