Hound's-tongue Cynoglossum officinale Teanga chon Family: Boraginaceae Flowering time:June-August. Biennial. Native. Forked cymes of funnel-shaped red-purple flowers. Grey-green, downy, lanceolate leaves that smell slightly of mice, the basal leaves stalked, the upper leaves stalkless. Height: 30-60cm. Found on grassland and dunes on light calcareous or sandy soils. Rare, scattered distribution mainly on the east coast of Ireland. |
