Bush Vetch Vicia sepium Peasair fhiáin Family: Fabaceae Flowering time: April-September. Perennial. Native. Dull blue/pinky-purple flowers in clusters of 2-6 followed by seed-pods that ripen to black. Leaves end in a branched tendril. The oval leaflets are in 5-7 pairs, blunt at the ends with a small bristle and widest near base. A slightly hairy plant with more/less erect straggling stems. To 80cm. Common in hedges, roadsides and open woodland throughout Ireland Similar: Bitter Vetch, Lathryrus linifolius. Leaves have no tendrils |
