Common Orache Atriplex patula Eilifleog Family: Chenopodiaceae Flowering time: July-October. Annual. Introduced Inconspicuous greenish flowers followed by triangular fruit bracteoles. Diamond-shaped lower leaves, the tips toothed and sharply pointed. Upper leaves are linear-oblong. Very variable with erect or prostrate growth, 15-60cm. Hybridization occurs. Frequent on fertile waste ground, arable land, salted roadsides, beaches and salt marshes. Similar: Spear-leaved Orache, A. prostrata |
