Polypody Spores ripen August-May, depending on species. Evergreen. Native. Single fronds rising from stout, brown-scaled rhizomes. Pinnate or deeply pinnate-lobed. Sori large, round or oval. Found on rocks, walls, roadside banks and trees throughout Ireland. Less frequent in central Ireland. Three species are found in Ireland, but can be difficult to identify: Common Polypody, Polypodium vulgare Intermediate Polypody, Polypodium interjectum Southern Polypody, Polypodium cambricum |
