Field Horsetail Erect or decumbent sterile stems, slightly rough with approx 12 vertical grooves. Loose green sheaths, black teeth without white edges. Solid branches, sheaths with green teeth. Cones on thicker, pinkish-white stems. Vigorous, spreads vegetatively by root fragments. resistant. Abundant, tolerates drier ground than other species and is herbicide resistant. Roadsides, railway tracks, waste and arable land, can be persistent garden weed. Identification confirmed by Paul Green |
