Spores ripen June - September. Perennial. Native.

Short, slightly branched prostrate stems with erect tips, 5-20cm. Over-wintering terminal buds. Bright green short-pointed, awl-shaped leaves. Terminal cones are borne singly on some branches, cone-scales with 1-2 teeth and broad bases.

Rare, occasionally found on bare, wet margins of bogs and lakes in West Galway.
