Flowering May - June. Deciduous. Native / introduced.

Dense flattish heads of white flowers followed by clusters of scarlet ovoid fruit. Dull greenish leaves, densely white-hairy beneath. The leaves are toothed and sometimes shallowly lobed. Smooth grey bark. Height to 25m. Very variable.

Possibly a rare native in Co. Galway, frequently planted.
