Larch Narrow light-green leaves, turning yellow in autumn. Brown cones persisting after leaves have fallen. Frequently planted for forestry. European Larch, Larix decidua: Greyish-brown twigs, erect cone-scales. Japanese Larch, Larix kaempferi: Leaves slightly broader. Bluish-green twigs becoming reddish in second year.
