Flowering May-July. Annual. Native.

Similar to Meadow Brome, Bromus commutatus but has erect, usually unbranched, flowerheads with shorter spikelets (12-16mm). The lemmas are rounded, +/- purplish. Leaves are +/- flat, only slightly hairy.

Grows in damp, unimproved hay and water meadows, often found at the drier margins.
