Identified by Paul Green

Flowerheads in narrow spikes with two opposite and alternating rows of small spikelets, the flowers with bent awns. Tufts of flat, +/- downy leaves with downy sheaths.

Originally from southern Europe. Infrequently recorded in Ireland on roadsides, also found in old pastures in Co. Limerick.
