Silver Hair-grass Aira caryophyllea Mionfhéar geal Family: Poaceae Flowering May - July. Annual. Native. Similar to Early Hair-grass but larger with branched, wide-spreading, silvery flowerheads. Short, bristle-like grey-green leaves with minutely-rough sheaths. Leaves wither early. Height 5-30cm. Found on dry, open, gravelly or sandy ground. Similar: Early Hair-grass, Aira praecox
