Reed Canary-grass Identification confirmed by Paul Green Branched flowerheads with silky, one-flowered spikelets. Pointed broad, flat leaves with rough edges, ligules short and blunt. Leaves persist through the winter. Height 100-180cm. Found where water levels fluctuate in ditches and at the margins of ponds, lakes and canals, can tolerate drier conditions in summer.
