Viviparous Fescue

Flowering June - August. Perennial. Native.

Very similar to Sheep's Fescue (F. ovina) but with green, leafy bulbils instead of flowers in the un-awned spikelets. Tufted, with narrow, inrolled hairless leaves, the sheaths split halfway to the base. Short, blunt ligules. Height 8-30cm.

Can be locally common in upland and mountainous areas of SW, W and NW Ireland.
