Red Fescue Identified by Paul Green Very variable grass with several subspecies recognised. 15-80cm. Shortly rhizomatous or tufted grass with branched, spreading flowerheads. Many-flowered spikelets usually greenish, some coastal forms can be purplish-red. Basal leaves bristle-like, stem leaves flat when fresh. Lower sheaths often reddish, fibrous at base of tufts.
