Flowering time: July-September. Aquatic perennial. Native.

Female flowers 2-4 clusters, lowest stalked. 2 male flower clusters above, appear as single oblong cluster. Flat leaves, bases sheathing, inflated. Stems rarely erect, usually floating. To 1m.

River and lake margins, peaty pools. Mainly found N, W, SW Ireland.
Very similar to Least Bur-reed, S. natans

Identification uncertain.
