Hop Humulus lupulus Hopa Family: Cannabaceae Flowering: July-September. Climbing perennial. Introduced. Dioecious with panicles of green male flowers and pale green clusters of female flowers. The deciduous leaves are pposite, lobed and coarse-toothed leaves. Stems are square and hairy, climbing or twining up to 6m An occasional garden escape or relic of cultivation growing in hedgerows, scrub and at the edge of woodland. Prefers loam or peaty soils. |
