Flowering time: June-August. Perennial. Native.

Flat-topped umbels of small, 5-petalled white or pink flowers without bracts or bracteoles. The lower leaves are pinnate with 3-9 coarse toothed leaflets, the stem leaves have inflated bases. A hairless plant with hollow, ridged stems. Height 50-120 cm.

Prefers heavier, calcareous soils on roadsides, wood edges and in hedgebanks.
