Flowering time: May-September. Aquatic perennial.

Dense spikes of tiny green/white flowers held above water level.
Floating leaves dark green with longitidual veins.
Oval to lanceolate. Submerged grass-like modified leaf stalks.

Common throughout Ireland in slow-moving freshwater.
